Ultra- Sugarhouse casino opens its gates?

Pennsylvania’s Sugarhouse opened this week. On the shores of the Delaware River, this casino has been hotly debated. The hotly debated Sugarhouse Gambling establishment opened its doors recently. This is a first big casino on the shores of the Delaware River. The gaming licenses issued in 2006 were very limited. The company that owns Sugarhouse Casino received one of the five permits. The risks associated with having a casino in their back yard does not appeal to some. Though the Sugarhouse will create billions of dollars in tax revenue, some are nevertheless protesting. Some groups who have been speaking against the casino are now preparing on ways to cut back business at the new facility.

Debates against the Sugarhouse Gambling establishment

From the day HSP Gaming, L.P. was granted a gaming license by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, residents have expressed concern. Some community groups claimed that the gambling establishment would create a “bad neighborhood” of drunks, no fax payday advance companies, and crime. One group held a service with candles outside the gambling establishment on opening night. This service was supposed to bring attention to those that may face a gambling problem.

The quarrels for Sugarhouse Gambling establishment

There has been strong debate against the Sugarhouse Gambling establishment. Residents of Fishtown, closest to the casino, have said that they’re happy to have it open. Sugarhouse Casino has already paid $ 175,000 to the Special Services District, which is being used for arts, sports, schools and veterans’ affairs services. The Sugarhouse Gambling establishment employment rolls have already been padded with over 900 individuals.

The Sugarhouse Casino has large plans for growth

Though the Sugarhouse Casino currently has 40 gaming tables and 1,600 slot machines, that is 400 less than initially planned. The Sugarhouse Gambling establishment has three more expansions planned for the long term. Opponents of the casino vow to start campaigns aimed at reducing the number of customers and revenue coming in to the new area business. This economically depressed area could very well be benefitted by the Sugarhouse Casino’s jobs, tourism, and tax dollars.
